LAREDO TECHNICAL SERVICES, INC. (LTSI) is a government contracting company in San Antonio, Texas.  LTSI is currently submitting a proposal on a contract with the Federal Government for an individual that would be interested in an Ophthalmology Retinal Specialty Physician position at El Paso VA Clinic, El Paso, TX, should LTSI win the contract.

You would be a W-2 employee for LTSI and NOT a government employee. The contract is scheduled to run for 5-years.

Position Description

Title: Ophthalmology (Ophthalmic) Retinal Specialist Physician

Location: El Paso VA Health Care System, 5001 Piedras Street, El Paso, TX 79930

Job Summary
: The Ophthalmic Retina Specialist Physician will perform on-site Specialty Medical Physician Services to eligible beneficiaries of the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, El Paso VA Health Care System. These services shall cover the range of Ophthalmology Retina Specialty Medical Services as would be provided in a state-of-the-art civilian medical treatment facility and the standard of care shall be of a quality, meeting or exceeding currently recognized national standards as established by the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS).

Primary Responsibilities
: The Ophthalmic Retina Specialist Physician shall perform the following treatments for treating veterans with retinal diseases: 

  • Micro-pulse Laser Therapy
  • Photodynamic Therapy
  • Panretinal Photocoagulation
  • Intravitreal Injections
  • Yag Laser Capsulotomy
  • Cryotherapy


Qualifications: The Ophthalmic Retina Specialist

  • Shall be Board Certified /Board Eligible by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO) and be currently certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Shall have a current license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia when services are performed onsite on VA property. All licenses held by the personnel working on this contract shall be full and unrestricted licenses.
  • Shall have been practicing medical Retina ophthalmic care within the last 12 months.
  • Shall be sub-specialized in diseases and surgery of the vitreous body of the eye and the retina.
  • Shall have at a minimum 1 year of a Retina-Vitreous fellowship.
  • Shall have the ability to speak, understand, read, and write English fluently.
  • Provide proof of current immunizations including COVID-19 vaccine and flu shot
